CLAS Weekly Reopening Update: 6/19

Dean Goddard sent this message to CLAS faculty and staff on Friday, June 19:

Dear CLAS Faculty and Staff:

University of Iowa administration has begun providing the guidance necessary for UI colleges and administrative units to determine their own guidelines for reopening for the Fall 2020 semester.

We are as eager to get you our CLAS Fall 2020 guidelines as you are to get them. Our reopening committees are working with the guidance provided by UI leadership and the Critical Incident Management Team.

We want to ensure that the CLAS Fall 2020 guidelines that we issue are official, approved by CLAS and UI leadership, and actionable throughout all aspects of collegiate and departmental operations.

Each Friday, we will send an email with "CLAS Weekly Reopening Update" and a date as the subject line. This Weekly Reopening Update will be the official transmission of Fall 2020-related guidelines. It will contain critical information about areas such as academic delivery, research and artistic production, return to work, health and safety in facilities, and other areas that affect our operations. (Note: Some budget updates may be sent separately.)

As always, we encourage you to contact your departmental HR representative, departmental accounting representative, area Associate Dean, or other Dean's Office individuals with questions.

Thank you for your patience as we begin the process of disseminating the CLAS guidelines regarding the Fall 2020 semester. We look forward to working with you to create the best possible academic, workplace, and research experience for our students, staff, and faculty in these unusual circumstances.

Sincerely,

Steve Goddard UI Alumni Association Dean's Chair    in the Liberal Arts and Sciences
